One of our favourite finds to bring back from England. Antique shop counters have a history that's written all over them — worn-smooth surfaces, brass fittings, hidden drawers that hint at decades of daily commerce. A haberdasher's, a chemist's, a village grocery. We love imagining the life a piece has had.

In a home, an antique shop counter makes an extraordinary kitchen island, bar, or media console. The length is generous, the construction is incredibly solid, and the character is completely irreplaceable.

We source these from dealers, barns, and shops across England on our buying trips. They're relatively rare — when we have them, it's worth paying attention.
