A great textile can do more for a room than almost any piece of furniture. Throw one over the back of a chair and the whole corner softens. Layer one across a bed and the room suddenly looks considered rather than simply furnished.

The antique and vintage textiles here were sourced in England and France — grain sacks with beautiful faded stripes, old linen with the texture of something washed a hundred times, the occasional piece of embroidery that's genuinely old and genuinely lovely.
