1. Product Condition & Antiques Disclosure
All of our inventory includes antique and vintage items. Please note:
• Signs of wear are considered part of the charm and authenticity of antique furniture.
• Scratches, chips, dents, cracks, and uneven coloring are common and expected.
• Climate changes may cause minor cracking, warping, or sticky drawers due to the natural age of materials.
• We strive to represent each piece accurately through photographs and descriptions. If you would like additional photos or details prior to purchase, we are happy to provide them.
2. Lead-Based Paint Disclosure & Liability Release
Due to the age of our antique and vintage inventory, products may contain lead-based paint or other chemicals common in historical manufacturing.
• No Testing: House on Horizon LLC does not test items for the presence of lead-based paint or hazardous substances.
• Buyer Assumption of Risk: By purchasing, the buyer acknowledges that antique items may contain lead. The buyer assumes all responsibility for any testing, remediation, or risks associated with lead exposure.
• Liability Waiver: House on Horizon LLC shall not be held liable for any illness, injury, or damages resulting from the presence of lead paint or other historical materials in our products. We recommend using caution and consulting safety guidelines if you plan to sand, strip, or refinish any antique item.
3. Return & Refund Policy
All sales are final. We do not accept returns.
• Refunds may be requested within 24 hours of purchase and are subject to a restocking fee of $250 or 10% of the order total, whichever is greater.
• To avoid surprises or uncertainty, we encourage all questions or concerns before completing your order.
4. Damage or Missing Items
Please contact us immediately if your item arrives damaged or is missing.
• All items are shipped with insurance, and we will assist you in filing a claim with the courier or appropriate party.
• House on Horizon LLC is not liable for lost or damaged items once in the possession of a third-party shipping provider.
5. Sales Tax
• Sales tax is not included for orders delivered outside of Michigan.
• Out-of-state customers are responsible for remitting applicable taxes to their local jurisdiction.
6. Shipping & Delivery Policy
• We use a combination of trusted couriers and UPS to deliver items nationwide.
• Orders are bundled by region to reduce shipping costs.
• Current delivery timelines are 4–8 weeks. Shipping may take longer for destinations west of the Mississippi River.
• Additional delivery costs such as ferry fees or tolls are the responsibility of the buyer.
• You will receive an order confirmation email after purchase.
• You will be notified again when your item leaves our warehouse, with courier contact information (if applicable).
7. Delivery Expectations
• Delivery is to your door only (threshold). Shipping services are not responsible for bringing items inside your home.
• Please ensure proper arrangements are made for receiving and moving the item into your space.
• Couriers often deliver multiple orders per route; schedules may shift, and your flexibility is appreciated.
8. Customer Responsibility
By placing an order, you agree to:
• Accept the characteristics, condition, and potential material risks (such as lead paint) of antique items.
• Accept responsibility for taxes, delivery logistics, and communication with couriers.
• Communicate promptly regarding any issues or claims.
• Understand that shipping times are estimates, not guarantees.
9. Privacy Policy
At House on Horizon LLC, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information.
• What We Collect: Name, email, phone number, shipping/billing addresses, and payment confirmation. Basic analytics data through cookies.
• How We Use It: To process orders, provide updates, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.
• Third Parties: We share data with shipping providers (UPS), payment processors (Stripe), and our hosting platform (Shopify) only as needed to fulfill orders.
• Your Rights: You may request to access, correct, or delete your personal information by contacting liv@houseonhorizon.com.
10. Payment Methods
We accept major forms of payment including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and other commonly used credit or debit cards through our secure checkout system.
11. Local Pickup (If Applicable)
If you are local to Traverse City, MI, and would like to arrange a pickup, please contact us in advance. Once an item leaves our location under a customer-arranged pickup, House on Horizon LLC is no longer responsible for its condition or delivery.
12. Policy Updates
House on Horizon LLC reserves the right to update these terms without notice. The most current version will always be available on our website.
13. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Michigan.
• In the event of any dispute, contact us at liv@houseonhorizon.com for informal resolution.
• Any legal action must be filed in a state or federal court located in Grand Traverse County, Michigan.
• House on Horizon LLC shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use our products.
