Antique English kitchen island

This antique English kitchen island is a long, sturdy work table that has a painted cream base and a natural wood top. The top is constructed from thick planks that have darkened to a rich brown, and it overhangs the frame a little all the way around. Six square legs hold it up, three along each side, so it feels really solid. A wide shelf of wooden boards runs just above the floor, which gives you plenty of room underneath.

The cream paint has chipped and rubbed away along the legs and edges, showing the bare wood beneath. The top has knocks and marks from years of chopping and rolling. All of it gives the island an easy, lived-in look. At almost 38" tall it’s a comfortable height for prep work in a farmhouse kitchen, and it would also work well as a potting bench or a serving table in a big dining room.

This piece has been professionally restored.
