Antique floral painting

This painting shows a loose bunch of pink and cream roses with one pale green bloom, set against a dark background. The paint is brushed on thickly, so the petals look soft and almost sculpted. A signature sits in the lower right corner. The picture is held in a linen mat, and the carved gilt frame around it has scrolling leaves and shell shapes at the corners.

The gold has dulled in places and there are a few small chips in the carving, which fits a frame that has hung through so many different homes. It would look right over a mantel or on a dining room wall.
