Antique French floral oil painting

This painting has a bunch of yellow, orange, red and cream flowers that glow against a deep, inky background. The paint is laid on thickly, so you can see brush marks and ridges across the petals and the dark space around them. A wide gilt frame with a fine beaded edge and a carved inner border holds it all together.

The surface has the soft, slightly worn look of something that has hung on a wall for a long time, and the gold has mellowed with age. It would bring a burst of color to a dining room or a dark hallway, and it looks good leaned on a mantel or a sideboard.
