Antique pine dresser with unusual drawers

This big antique English kitchen dresser is made of pine that has mellowed to a warm caramel tone. The top has two long shelves against a plank back, and a scalloped trim runs beneath the cornice. Below, the drawers are laid out in a way you don’t often see. Five short drawers run across the top, and underneath them two deep drawers sit either side of a pair of small stacked ones in the middle. Five paneled cupboard doors fill the bottom on iron hinges, and every drawer and door has a simple wooden knob.

Knots, scuffs and soft wear run right across the pine. You can tell it has worked hard in a busy kitchen. There’s room for a whole collection of plates and jugs on the shelves, but it would be just as useful along a dining room wall holding table linens and serving pieces.
