Antique pine kitchen dresser

This tall dresser has an open rack on top with three long shelves set against a back of upright pine boards, under a deep cornice. Below, three drawers with brass pulls sit over a cupboard with two working doors, each with a small round knob and iron hinges. A fixed panel in the middle matches them, and a moulded base finishes it off. It’s built in two parts, so the rack sits on the cupboard base.

The pine has a warm honey color with plenty of grain, and the shelves carry the nicks and dark marks of a long working life in a farmhouse kitchen. The rack suits plates, jugs and everyday dishes, while the drawers and cupboard hide the bits you’d rather not show. It would fill a kitchen or dining room wall nicely.
