Antique pine linen press

This tall linen press has two doors with arched raised panels under a deep, rounded cornice. Inside, four wide slide-out trays with raised back edges hold linens and folded clothes, and an iron lock sits on the inside of the door. Below, two short drawers sit over two long ones, and all four have round dark wooden knobs and small keyholes against the pale pine. The base is plain and moulded.

The pine is light and golden, with big knots and swirls of grain across the drawer fronts and a few scuffs and soft marks from a long working life. The top section sits on the drawer base, and its generous trays make it as useful for bedding and towels as for clothes. It would suit a bedroom, a hallway or a bathroom with room for tall storage.
