Antique pine washstand

This sweet antique pine washstand is full of little details. A low rail runs around the back and sides of the top, and it rises into soft curves at the center and corners. The top sits on a plain frame over four slim tapered legs. Down low, a shelf joins the legs, and its front edge is cut into a pretty wavy shape that matches the curves up top. The pine has turned a warm honey color with knots dotted through it.

There are small dents and worn edges here and there, mostly on the top and legs. They give it a softness that new pieces just don’t have. It would be a lovely little console in an entryway with a basket on the shelf below, and it could just as easily sit in a bathroom as a spot for towels and soaps.
