Antique sideboard in a dark wax finish

This sideboard has a deep, dark wax finish that shows the grain and the lighter patches where the surface has softened. A single panelled door sits in the middle with a small round knob, and three stacked drawers on each side have turned wooden knobs. It stands on eight chunky turned feet, and the top has a softly rounded edge.

Inside the cupboard there’s a single shelf and plain, unfinished boards at the back. The wood has darkened and mellowed, with scuffs, a few drips of old paint on the inside of the door, and the rubbed edges of a well-loved past. It would work as a buffet in a dining room, a long console in a hallway or a storage piece in a kitchen.
