European antique oil on canvas

This antique European oil on canvas shows a whitewashed cottage under a deep thatched roof, and its bright turquoise door catches your eye straight away. A woman in a red skirt and straw hat scatters feed for a handful of white hens, while a black-and-white cow drinks from a wooden tub nearby. A dirt lane winds past a haystack and a stand of trees toward a village far off, where you can just make out a church spire. Red and yellow wildflowers dot the grass in the front. It's signed in the bottom right corner.

The canvas is unframed and has fine crackling across the paint and small losses around the edges. It wears its history well. It would feel right at home in a farmhouse kitchen, and it would sit nicely on a mantel too.
