Antique French chippy drawers

This French commode has a gently curved front and a shaped top that follows the same line. There are two small drawers at the top, two below them and one long drawer at the bottom. Each drawer has ornate brass handles shaped like ribbon bows, and there's a matching keyhole plate on the top row. The bottom edge is scalloped. It stands on short curved legs, and the sides have tall panels.

The cream paint has chipped and worn away all over, so darker layers and bare wood show through underneath. That kind of patina can't be faked and only comes with the passing of generations. It has a soft, faded elegance. It would be beautiful in a bedroom as a dresser, or in an entryway with a mirror above. It would also add a lovely French note to a living room.
