Irish kitchen hutch

This tall, slim hutch has an open rack on top with three deep shelves set against a back of upright pine boards, under a deep, sweeping cornice. Above each shelf, a slim horizontal bar holds plates and dishes in place. The base has two drawers with round wooden knobs above a cupboard with two panelled doors and a shelf inside. It’s made in two parts, so the rack lifts off the cupboard, and the base stands on a pair of sturdy shaped feet at each end.

The pine has a soft honey color, with a darker, well-worn top and the knocks and rubbed edges of a well-loved past. At just over a foot and a half deep, it fits into a narrow kitchen or dining room without crowding it.
