Long antique dining table
At over ten feet long, this Victorian dining table seats a crowd. The top is made of pale wooden boards, set over a deep reddish-brown base with a plain, straight apron. Six square tapered legs carry it, each ending in a small shaped block above a well-worn foot.
The top has been scrubbed to a soft, light color that contrasts with the dark base, and it carries knife marks and rubbed patches from a long life of meals and kitchen work. The wood on the legs has darkened and softened with age. It is slim at just over two feet wide, so it suits a long, narrow dining room or the middle of a big kitchen, and it would also work as a work table or a console against a wall.
