Moody floral oil painting

A dark round pot sits on a rusty red tabletop, filled with orange and pink flowerheads, sprays of tiny dried blooms and a few tall bulrushes. A little brass dish leans against the pot, and a loose flower and a sprig of lavender lie on the table beside it. Everything glows against a deep green background. The artist's signature is painted in red in the lower right corner. A wide dark wood frame with a slim gold inner edge surrounds the painting.

The canvas has a softly aged surface with fine texture showing through the paint. The frame has a few chips and scuffs along the bottom edge, the honest knocks of an old painting that has hung in a lot of rooms. Its dark tones make it perfect for a cozy study, a dining room or a bedroom with deep painted walls. It would also stand out beautifully against a pale wall in a hallway.
