Pair of antique oil portraits

This lady and gentleman were painted as a pair, and both sit against the same soft gray-green background. She wears her dark hair swept up and a black dress with lace sleeves and a richly patterned front. He has a neat mustache and reddish hair, and he's dressed in a dark suit with a high white collar and a tie. The signature and the date 1913 are painted in the upper left corner of her portrait.

The canvases are unframed and show their age in fine cracks, a gently darkened surface and worn tacking edges along the sides. More than a century after they were painted, the two still make a charming couple. They look wonderful hung side by side over a sideboard or in a dining room, or simply leaned against the wall on a wide shelf. You could also frame them if you want a more formal look.
