Simple English antique pine cupboard

This plain pine cupboard has a single panelled door with a round wooden knob and a small toggle latch. The top has a gently rounded front edge and a little curved lip at the back, and the base has a moulded edge with short, shaped feet at the front.

Inside, two wide shelves divide the space into three, with a back made of vertical boards. The pine has mellowed to a warm honey brown, and knots, nail holes and soft scuffs show where it worked hard in a pantry or scullery. It would hold dishes, linens or pantry goods in a kitchen, or sit in a hallway or bedroom as a roomy cupboard.
